20K COMPLETES WORK AT THE SALLE ALBERT-ROUSSEAU
A REFERENCE IN TERMS OF SOUND QUALITY!The reviews coming in from all over are unanimous: the Salle Albert-Rousseau’s new permanent sound system is one of the most efficient in the province. And the 20k firm, which was in charge of designing the system, preparing the call for tenders and overseeing the work, has without doubt contributed to the long-term project’s success. The brand new system combines high-performance and fine-tuning, giving it the versatility much sought after by a wide range of artists and bands. The new meticulously selected and calibrated equipment covers the entire audience area resulting in a consistency rate upward of 95% across the whole spectrum. With its top-of-the-line loudspeakers, remarkably intuitive control system, complete wiring system and intelligent audio design, it goes without saying that the sound system at the Salle Albert-Rousseau is highly efficient but it is also perfectly integrated into the architecture. The 20k team, who were commissioned once again by the Salle Albert-Rousseau to oversee the project for renewing its lighting and control equipment, can now definitely say mission accomplished.

20k design ... The Wall of Sound!
The month of June was a busy one for the 20k team when, among other things, they designed, programmed and calibrated the sound system for The Wall of Sound, a large-scale mixed-media show that was presented in front of the National Assembly on July 3 and 4 to commemorate the anniversary of the City of Québec. The show’s imposing stage structure, a 67-foot high and 90-foot wide scaffolding, was host to 350 singers and musicians.
As the installation required over a hundred microphones and more than a hundred loudspeakers, the 20k team had to contend with two major challenges: controlling the clearness of the sound system on account of the large number of highly sensitive microphones being used simultaneously and minimizing the sound reflection in the receiving system. To ensure optimum quality sound diffusion, the 20k specialists carried out numerous noise rejection studies and acoustic simulations. The end result proved to be a highly intelligible stereophonic sound environment that was perfectly audible in the predetermined broadcast zone.

The Church of Scientology calls on 20k to calibrate its latest installations
The Church of Scientology has called on the services of 20k for the calibration and programming of the latest installations at its brand new Québec City branch. The imposing building on rue St-Joseph, where nothing has been overlooked when it comes to technology, features an impressive number of lecture halls, chapels and rooms for audiovisual presentations. There are touch screens linked to a Crestron control system at the door to every room so that all elements that can be automated are so: curtains, screens, lighting, audiovisual presentations, ambiances, microphones, and so forth. Many of the conference rooms are equipped with Meyer Sound 5.1 surround sound systems controlled by BSS London BLU signal processors.
20k has calibrated and programmed a much more imposing version of the system: a Meyer Sound 5.1 surround sound system comprised of two UPA-2P speakers in front, one central UPA-1P speaker, six UPM-1P speakers for surround, two UPJunior central delay speakers, two UPM-1P front fill speakers and three 500-HP subwoofers. The Crestron system controls the Soundweb London BLU processors so that the system can be automatically adapted to the different sources in use (5.1 or stereo DVD, CD stereo, microphone, IPOD, 5.1 or stereo Media Server, etc.).
